Bengaluru Starbusters Secure Title in Skyesports’ THE FINALS League

Skyesports’ THE FINALS League winner and runner up

The Bengaluru Starbusters, led by the talented content creator Prajwal “Red Parasite” Kali, have emerged as the champions of the first edition of THE FINALS League, securing their second consecutive victory in this city-vs-city esports competition. After weeks of intense battles, they took home the lion's share of the $10,000 prize pool, cementing their status as one of the top esports teams in the country.

This year’s tournament, which ran from September 14 to October 2, 2024, saw 10 teams representing cities across India. The Bengaluru Starbusters once again proved their dominance, overcoming fierce competition from teams like the Ahmedabad Meteors, led by Tanmay "ScoutOP" Singh, and the Rajasthan Galactics, captained by Pardhan, to claim the championship.

A Journey to Victory

The Bengaluru Starbusters entered the tournament with high expectations with a mix of professional players and influencers, maintained their winning momentum throughout the Group Stage, and carried it into the Main Event. Known for their strategic gameplay and exceptional teamwork, the Starbusters consistently outperformed their rivals in the tournament’s unique Cash Out mode, where teams compete to collect the most cash by eliminating opponents.

In the final stages of the tournament, the Starbusters faced stiff competition, but Red Parasite’s leadership and experience proved pivotal in securing key victories. Reflecting on their win, Red Parasite said,

"This was more than just about winning for us. The bonds we’ve built and the fun we had together made this journey incredible. Lifting the trophy is just the cherry on top."

Tournament Format and Highlights

The tournament followed a double round-robin Group Stage, with the top eight teams advancing to the Main Event on October 1 and 2. The final battles used an IPL-style eliminator format, which heightened the stakes:

  • Top Four Teams: Competed in Qualifier 1, with the winners advancing directly to the Finals, while the losers moved to Qualifier 2.

  • Bottom Four Teams: Battled in the Eliminator, with the winners progressing to Qualifier 2 and the losers being eliminated.

  • Qualifier 2: Determined the final two teams that advanced to the Grand Finals.

The Bengaluru Starbusters dominated the crucial matches, defeating tough opponents and securing their place in the Finals, where they outclassed the Ahmedabad Meteors in a thrilling finale.

Where to Catch the Action

Fans who missed the live action can still watch all the matches on Skyesports’ and THE FINALS India YouTube channels, where the event was streamed in both Hindi and English. The commentary was provided by a skilled talent lineup, including Captain Price, IQ Master, TTRXD Gaming, and Maane in Hindi, with Lucif3r, Nekroz, and Raider leading the English broadcasts.

What’s Next for the Champions?

With their back-to-back wins, the Bengaluru Starbusters have established themselves as one of the premier teams in Indian esports. Red Parasite hinted at more exciting challenges ahead, saying, "This is just the beginning. We’re already looking forward to what’s next, and we’re ready to defend our title again."
