Supercell's popular mobile game Clash of Clans is expanding into the world of tabletop gaming.
The company has partnered with Maestro Media to create "Clash of Clans: The Epic Raid," a board game that will bring the mobile strategy experience to your tabletop.
The new board game is scheduled to launch on Kickstarter this month, allowing fans to support the project early and receive special rewards. Early backers will receive an exclusive Golden Barbarian King miniature, making this not just a game, but a collectible experience too.
Two experienced game designers are leading the project. Eric M. Lang, known for his work on "Star Wars: The Card Game" and "XCOM: The Board Game," is collaborating with Ken Gruhl, designer of "Happy Salmon" and "Life in Reterra."
Maestro Media is also no stranger to adapting fan-favorite franchises for tabletop audiences. Their impressive portfolio includes Hello Kitty: Day at the Park, Disney’s Donald Duck Happy Camper, and the cult-favorite The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls.
The board game will let players build defenses, deploy units, and raid other players' bases—core elements from the mobile game. This adaptation aims to preserve the strategic gameplay that has made Clash of Clans so popular while creating a social experience around a table rather than on separate screens.
"Clash of Clans: The Epic Raid is a groundbreaking experience that brings the beloved universe to life like never before," said Javon Frazier, Founder and CEO of Maestro Media. He emphasized that the game would capture the essence of Clash of Clans while offering a fresh tabletop adventure.
Andrea Fasulo, Supercell's Head of Global Licensing, expressed similar enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that it creates "a whole new way" to experience the strategy and excitement of Clash of Clans.
This expansion into board games is part of Supercell's broader strategy to grow the Clash of Clans brand beyond mobile gaming. The company has already collaborated with entertainment companies like WWE and reportedly has a film in early development stages.
For Supercell, the timing seems right to expand the Clash of Clans franchise, which has accumulated over 120 billion hours of gameplay across hundreds of millions of players worldwide. The company recently launched another mobile game called Mo.co, which has already generated $2.5 million in less than a month.
