WrestleMania 41 Night 2 delivered more than just title fights this year—it gave fans a hellish surprise straight from the world of video games.
WWE superstar Drew McIntyre, known as The Scottish Warrior, stormed into the Las Vegas arena clad in Doom Slayer-inspired armor, complete with a chest piece styled after Doom: The Dark Ages and wielding a replica of the fearsome Shield Saw.
The entrance wasn’t just jaw-dropping—it was official cross-promotion between WWE, Microsoft, and Bethesda, building hype for Doom: The Dark Ages ahead of its May 15, 2025, launch.
A Hell-Raising Event Highlight
McIntyre’s themed entrance, accompanied by the game’s aesthetic and signature weaponry, stood out as a major moment of Night 2.
The crossover was designed to echo the game’s dark, medieval themes and even played into the storyline: his opponent, Damian Priest, entered to metal legend Kerry King of Slayer, making the eventual win for McIntyre a symbolic “demon slaying” in line with Doom’s narrative.
Trailer Drop: Doom Goes Prime Time
In tandem with the entrance, a new TV spot for Doom: The Dark Ages aired during WrestleMania, immediately followed by the online debut of Official Trailer 2. The story trailer showcased:
Expanded lore tied to the Doom Slayer’s origin
A grim medieval sci-fi setting
Brutal combat features like the Shield Saw and Skull Crusher
And a towering cybernetic Cthulhu-like demon that hints at the scale of upcoming boss battles
This installment positions itself as a prequel to 2016’s Doom reboot, grounding players in a heavier, more brutal experience that trades speed for sheer force—and the occasional cyber-dragon ride.
Fan Reaction and Collector’s Bundle Hints
The gaming and wrestling communities alike lit up on X and Reddit, praising the authenticity of McIntyre’s Doom Slayer tribute. Many fans speculated that the Shield Saw prop seen in the entrance confirms it as a physical item in the game’s Collector’s Edition, which Bethesda has yet to officially unveil.
This wasn’t the first time WWE has crossed paths with Doom either—fans were quick to recall Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s role in the 2005 Doom movie, giving the promotion an added layer of nostalgia.

Set for release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass, Doom: The Dark Ages aims to evolve the franchise while honoring its chaotic legacy.
