EA's New SKATE Game Will Require Always-Online Connection

SKATE

EA's upcoming Skate game will need players to stay connected to the internet at all times, even when playing alone.

According to a recent update on the official blog, developer Full Circle has confirmed that the game will not have an offline mode.

"The simple answer is no," Full Circle stated when asked about offline play. The team explained that their vision for the game is "a living, breathing massively multiplayer skateboarding sandbox that is always online and always evolving."

This always-online requirement means players must maintain an internet connection to enjoy the game, regardless of whether they want to play with others or by themselves. The developer noted that this design choice allows the game world to change over time, with updates to the city, live events, and other in-game activities keeping the experience fresh.

While the exact release date remains unconfirmed, EA has reaffirmed that Skate's early access launch is planned for 2025.

The developers have also emphasized that "skate. isn't a pay-to-win game," suggesting that microtransactions will be limited to cosmetic items rather than gameplay advantages.
