EA Sports Confirms Madden 26 Release Date, Drops Support for Last-Gen Consoles

EA Sports has officially announced that Madden 26 will launch on August 14, 2025. 


According to the official announcement, Madden 26 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via EA app for Windows, Steam, and Epic Games Store), and for the first time in over a decade, on a Nintendo console - the Nintendo Switch 2.


This marks the first appearance of the Madden franchise on Nintendo hardware since Madden 13 released back in 2012.


However, in a significant change, the upcoming installment will no longer support PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, ending a 12-year run on these last-gen platforms.


Pre-order Options and Bonuses


Players can choose between several editions of the game, each with different bonuses:


Deluxe Edition Pre-order Bonuses:


  • 3-day early access (August 11-14)

  • 4,600 Madden Points

  • Early access to Ultimate Team Solo Challenges

  • Season 1 Elite Player item (if pre-ordered before July 24)

  • Cover Athlete Elite MUT Player Item

EA is also offering an MVP Bundle, which includes both Madden NFL 26 and College Football 26 Deluxe Editions. This digital-only bundle comes with additional exclusive content not available in the standalone editions, including MUT and CUT Exclusive Elite Player Items.


EA Sports is rewarding long-time Madden players with special loyalty offers. As reported on EA's website, players of Madden NFL 23, 24, or 25 can purchase the Madden NFL 26 Deluxe Loyalty Edition on PlayStation and Xbox platforms to receive 10% off their purchase, all Deluxe Edition pre-order bonuses, and a 99 OVR Player Pack for use in Madden NFL 25 Ultimate Team.


This loyalty program extends to the MVP Bundle as well, offering the same 10% discount to eligible players who pre-order through the in-game menu.


EA Play Member Benefits


For EA Play members, additional benefits include:

  • 10% off digital pre-orders and Ultimate Team packs

  • A Launch Welcome Pack in Madden NFL 26 Ultimate Team

What features and improvements will be included in this year's game remains to be seen, but with the focus now entirely on current-generation platforms, expectations are high for significant advancements in both visuals and gameplay.


Along with Madden 26, EA Sports also announced College Football 2026, launching on July 10, 2025.
