Fortnite's next season will bring a major Star Wars collaboration to the popular battle royale game. Chapter 6, Season 3, called "Galactic Battle," will launch on May 2, 2025, and has been officially announced at Star Wars Celebration Japan.

The upcoming season promises to be "the biggest Star Wars crossover in Fortnite's history," featuring iconic characters from the franchise including Emperor Palpatine, Mace Windu, and surprisingly, Darth Jar Jar. In the announcement trailer, Jar Jar Binks is shown in Sith form, complete with the ability to shoot lightning from his fingertips.

According to Epic Games, the new season will unfold as a five-part saga, with new Star Wars gameplay elements releasing weekly from launch through early June. Players can look forward to piloting and co-piloting famous Star Wars vehicles like X-wings and TIE Fighters across the Fortnite island.

The season will introduce Force Lightning as a new in-game ability, allowing players to harness the power of the dark side during matches. The Battle Pass will include Star Wars-themed character skins, including Emperor Palpatine and creative mashups like "Wookiee Cuddle Team Leader," which blends Star Wars elements with classic Fortnite characters.

Ahmed Best, who portrayed Jar Jar Binks in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and Jedi Master Kelleran Beq in The Mandalorian, appeared on stage at Star Wars Celebration to help announce the collaboration. Best shared his excitement about seeing the fan-fiction character Darth Jar Jar being brought to life in a game for the first time.

"Galactic Battle" will follow a weekly schedule of themed content releases:

  • Imperial Takeover – May 2

  • The Pull of the Force – May 8

  • Mandalorian Rising – May 22

  • Star Destroyer Bombardment – May 29

  • Death Star Sabotage – June 7

The five-part event will conclude with an in-game narrative live event that Epic Games says will make players feel like "they've got the fate of the whole galaxy in their hands."

This extensive Star Wars partnership is one of the first major outcomes of Disney's $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games, announced in February 2024. That deal included plans for game tie-ins with Fortnite as well as a separate Disney universe-centered game.

The new season comes as players are looking for fresh content after Crime City, the current Fortnite season that introduced Mortal Kombat characters to the game.
