FragPunk Announces First Esports Tournament with $200,000 Prize Pool

FragPunk

FragPunk, the free-to-play hero shooter published by NetEase Games, is diving into the competitive scene with its first official esports tournament, the FragPunk Global Invitational.

Running from April 28 to June 7, 2025, the event will bring together top talent from around the globe, with teams battling for a total prize pool of $200,000 (~£150,373).

Seven Regions, Seven Captains

The tournament will feature seven teams representing distinct regions:

  • Germany

  • France

  • North America

  • Brazil

  • Russia

  • Mainland China

  • Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan (HMT)

Each region is led by a team captain responsible for scouting and assembling their squad. Among the already confirmed captains are notable names like:

  • Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo, former VALORANT pro and popular content creator (North America)

  • Dmitrii ‘Recrent’ Osintsev, renowned Russian battle royale streamer.

Tournament Format: From Qualifiers to Grand Finals

The Invitational kicks off with open regional qualifiers on April 28, where captains will host tryouts to scout top talent.

This will be followed by regional finals running May 3–11, determining the squads that will represent their territories in the championship round.

The action culminates in Hangzhou, China, with the Global Grand Finals taking place June 5–7, where teams will compete for the lion’s share of the prize pool:

  • $10,000 (~£7,522) awarded during regional finals

  • $150,000 (~£112,809) on the line at the Grand Finals

The game has already shown promise in the competitive scene through appearances in events like Twitch Rivals, which has helped showcase its potential as an esports title.

To further widen its audience, FragPunk is also set to release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on April 29, just one day after the tournament kicks off—potentially expanding the player base across platforms.
