In a dominant performance, Gods Reign has claimed victory at the Skyesports Souvenir 2025 National Esports Championship held in Bengaluru from February 27 to March 1, 2025. The tournament took place at The Lalit Ashok hotel as part of the Bengaluru GAFX 2025 event.
The championship, which featured Counter-Strike 2 competition, was organized with support from the Karnataka government in partnership with ABAI. Four teams qualified for the main event through nationwide open qualifiers: Gods Reign, Big W, Victores Sumus, and Flashback Gaming.
With a prize pool of ₹5,00,000, the stakes were high as teams battled through a double-elimination bracket format. Gods Reign showed exceptional skill throughout the tournament, winning all their matches with impressive 2-0 scorelines. They first defeated Victores Sumus in the Upper Bracket Final before securing their Grand Final spot by overcoming Flashback Gaming.
The Grand Finals saw Gods Reign face off against Victores Sumus once again. Gods Reign secured victory on the first map, Train. The second map, Dust II, proved more challenging as Victores Sumus took an early lead. However, Gods Reign mounted a comeback in the late game and ultimately won in overtime with a 16-12 score.
"It feels great. I am happy to play on this stage. I hope there will be another tournament like this in Bengaluru, and I hope to win that trophy as well," said Rossi Kiran from Gods Reign after their victory.
As a Valve-licensed ranked event, the tournament provided valuable ranking points for participating teams. Gods Reign's victory significantly boosted their position in the global Counter-Strike 2 leaderboards, climbing from 157th to 76th globally and improving from 13th to 8th in Asia.
Shiva Nandy, Founder and CEO of Skyesports, highlighted the importance of such events, stating, "Gods Reign's jump in rankings shows the impact of Skyesports' events, where we provide opportunities for local teams to compete internationally. We will continue to collaborate with state governments for esports initiatives like this one."
The tournament also underscored Karnataka's commitment to developing esports as a skill-based discipline and establishing itself as a hub for competitive gaming in India.
Looking ahead, Skyesports has already announced their next tournament, the Skyesports Pro League 2025 for Free Fire, scheduled for March, with more details to follow soon.
