GTA 6 Price Tag Might Reach $100, According to Early Retailer Listings

Rockstar Games has yet to make any official announcements about GTA 6's release date, pricing, or preorder availability. However, some retailers seem to be jumping the gun by creating unofficial preorder pages. These early listings suggest what many fans have feared—GTA 6 might come with a higher price tag than the usual AAA games on PS5 and Xbox.

Recently Swiss retailer Brack.ch briefly listed GTA 6 for PS5 at 99.00 CHF (Swiss Francs), roughly $112. As spotted by Destructoid, the listing has since been removed, suggesting it may have been posted prematurely. However, the price point has already sparked discussions within the gaming community.

Since Swiss prices include VAT (Value Added Tax), the actual U.S. retail price would likely be lower than a direct currency conversion suggests. This makes a $100 price tag seem more realistic for the American market.

Interestingly, Destructoid also noted that Brack.ch engaged with customers on its preorder page, confirming that the listed price was accurate rather than a placeholder. If true, gamers should expect similar pricing for both PS5 and Xbox versions when official preorders eventually open.

Brack.ch isn’t the only retailer getting ahead of Rockstar. A store in Malaysia has also introduced an early "preorder" system for GTA 6, allowing customers to reserve a copy for about $3. This approach helps the retailer gauge interest before committing to bulk orders from Rockstar.

While a $100 price tag might initially shock gamers, ScreenRant offers an interesting perspective: when adjusted for inflation, the original Grand Theft Auto's $50 launch price in 1997 would be equivalent to about $99.83 today. In that context, the potential new price point doesn’t seem as extreme.

The expected price hike for GTA 6 also aligns with a broader industry trend. Reports suggest that Nintendo Switch 2 games could start at $70—a $10 increase from first-gen Switch titles. This suggests gamers may need to brace for higher prices across multiple platforms and franchises in the coming years.

Matthew Ball, a well-known analyst at Epyllion, recently shared insights in his State of Video Gaming in 2025 report, suggesting some industry insiders are "hoping" GTA 6 will push game prices to $80 or even $100. If that happens, it could set a new precedent, encouraging other publishers to follow suit to bridge the gap between soaring development costs and retail pricing.

For now, all eyes are on Rockstar’s official announcements regarding GTA 6’s release date, features, and final pricing before gamers decide whether to hit that preorder button.
