Hollow Knight: Silksong, the long-awaited sequel to the beloved 2017 indie hit, might finally be getting closer to release. A recent update to the game's Steam listing has given fans fresh hope after years of waiting and little news from developer Team Cherry.
On March 24, some interesting changes popped up in Silksong’s Steam metadata, as recorded on SteamDB. The update added an opt-in option for Nvidia’s GeForce NOW cloud gaming service, suggesting possible streaming support.
But what really got fans talking was a small yet significant detail—the copyright year on the Steam store page was updated from 2019 to 2025. It may not sound like much, but it's a strong hint that a big announcement could be right around the corner.
This update has fueled speculation about Silksong making an appearance at the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on April 2. There were already rumors linking the game to Nintendo’s next-gen console, and this new development only adds more fuel to the fire. Back in January, fans noticed that Silksong’s eShop page mysteriously disappeared for a while before coming back, further adding to the mystery surrounding its release.
Silksong was first announced during the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct as a Nintendo Switch and PC exclusive. Since then, it has been confirmed for more platforms, including Xbox and PlayStation. It even showed up at the Xbox Showcase in June 2022, where it was revealed as a day-one title for Xbox Game Pass. But despite all these confirmations, Team Cherry has been tight-lipped about progress, leaving fans anxiously waiting for any updates.
Excitement for Silksong is still through the roof, thanks to the massive success of Hollow Knight. The original game won over players with its stunning world design, tight combat, and deep exploration, making its sequel one of the most wish-listed games on Steam.
While this latest Steam update doesn’t confirm a release date, it’s a promising sign that progress is happening behind the scenes. With the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct just around the corner, fans have to see if Silksong actually shows up there. Let’s hope so!
