Mumbai-based studio Underdogs India is getting ready to drop fresh details about their game "Mukti," one of the first titles chosen for PlayStation's India Hero Project.
Studio founder and game director Vaibhav Chauhan recently posted on Twitter/X: "Reliving Mukti's old teaser from 2022, before we gear up for big reveals in a few weeks!" alongside the original teaser video from two years ago. This indicates that we may soon find out the release date of the game.
"Mukti" is a first-person exploration experience set inside an Indian museum that tackles the serious issue of human trafficking. PlayStation describes it as a game built on "authentic narratives and meticulously researched historical contexts" that aims to raise awareness about this critical social problem.
"Each interaction within the game is designed to provoke empathy, spark dialogue, and ignite change," according to PlayStation's official description.
The title is being developed for both PlayStation consoles and PC platforms.
The India Hero Project represents Sony Interactive Entertainment's commitment to supporting indie game developers across India. Announced in February 2024, the first batch includes five promising titles. Aside from "Mukti," these titles are:
"Requital: Gates of Blood" -- 2D side-scrolling action platformer, set in the unpredictable Egyptian underworld of the Duat, developed by Holy Cow Productions.
"SURI: The Seventh Note" -- 2D Metroidvania game developed by Tathvamasi Studios.
"Meteora: The Race Against Space-Time" -- An arcade combat racer developed by Big Boot Games.
"Fishbowl" -- A slice-of-life narrative adventure developed by imissmyfriends
A month later Sony expanded the program, adding two more to the lineup:
"The Bloody Boots" -- A third-person action-adventure game developed by Weloadin
"Lokko" -- A 3D platformer developed by Appy Monkeys
All projects are still in development, and official release dates have not been confirmed.
