Jackbox Games is coming to smart TVs!

As of announcements made on March 6, Jackbox Games has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to launch a new app utilizing AWS GameLift Streams, a cloud-based streaming technology.

This will allow players to enjoy Jackbox’s popular party games directly on smart TVs without needing a separate gaming console or PC.

The rollout is planned in phases:

  • A beta version of the app is expected to launch in Spring 2025 (likely around April or May) on "one or two smart TV platforms." Specific platforms haven’t been confirmed yet, but given the context, it could include popular systems like Samsung, LG, or Android TV-based devices.

  • Initially, the app will offer a small collection of ad-supported games for free, making it accessible to a wide audience.

  • In the future, Jackbox plans to expand this service to include their entire catalog of games (like Quiplash, Fibbage, and Tee K.O.) through a subscription model, though no pricing or exact timeline for this has been detailed yet.

This move aims to simplify access to Jackbox’s multiplayer party games, which traditionally require players to use their phones as controllers while the game runs on a central screen. With smart TV integration, the setup becomes even more seamless, leveraging cloud streaming to bring the games directly to your living room TV. Keep an eye out for the beta launch in a couple of months—perfect timing for summer game nights!
