The LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company have announced a new partnership that will bring Pokémon-themed LEGO sets to stores in 2026. This exciting news was revealed on March 18, with a simple teaser showing both companies' logos and a LEGO brick version of Pikachu's tail.
This team-up brings together two beloved brands that have captured the hearts of millions around the world. Until now, Pokémon building toys were made by Mega Bloks, but this new deal marks a significant upgrade for fans who enjoy both collecting Pokémon and building with LEGO bricks.
"Electrify your imagination in 2026 and get ready to build something we've never built with Lego bricks before!" the company teased in their announcement. While few details have been shared about what exactly the sets will include, many fans are already speculating about the possibilities.
The partnership arrives as Pokémon approaches its 30th anniversary in 2026, making the timing perfect for a celebration of the franchise. According to the press release, both companies share "strong values of imagination, creativity and fun," suggesting that the collaboration aims to create something truly special for fans.
Julia Goldin, LEGO's chief product and marketing officer, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: "We are thrilled to be working with a brand that has such a deep and passionate fanbase as Pokémon, partnering to give our joint audiences what they have been asking us for."
The Pokémon Company's chief product and experience officer, Gaku Susai, added that the collaboration will deliver "unique, meaningful and engaging ways for Trainers to experience the Pokémon brand." He described the upcoming product line as an "innovative and groundbreaking collaboration that will surprise and delight fans."
This isn't LEGO's first venture into Nintendo-related properties. The building block company has already created successful product lines based on Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Animal Crossing. Just earlier this month, Nintendo announced a new LEGO Super Mario Kart set featuring the iconic character and his standard kart.
While some fans speculate that the LEGO Pokémon sets might include buildable desk models of popular Pokémon characters, others hope for playsets featuring locations from the games, like Pallet Town. Many are also wondering if we might see minifigures of human characters like Ash Ketchum.
For Pokémon fans, this announcement comes alongside news that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will launch for Nintendo Switch later this year. The game is expected to also have a version for Nintendo's next console, Switch 2.
With both the LEGO partnership and new games on the horizon, it looks like Pokémon enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to in the coming years. As one might say in the Pokémon world, it's time to start saving those Bottle Caps!
