The release of “A Minecraft Movie” has sparked a massive surge in Minecraft's mobile earnings, with daily revenue skyrocketing to $969,000 on April 12th, 2025—marking the game’s biggest single-day total in three years. That’s no small feat for a game that's been around for over a decade.

Premiering on April 4th, the movie immediately worked its magic: daily spending on Minecraft Mobile jumped 32% on opening day alone. That kind of instant impact shows just how powerful cross-media synergy can be—especially when it’s a globally loved franchise like Minecraft.

According to data from Pocketgamer.biz using AppMagic data, this cinematic crossover has helped Minecraft Mobile notch its best performance since Christmas Day 2021. And it couldn’t have come at a better time—Minecraft was already riding a wave of momentum in 2025, so the film simply pushed things into overdrive.

Speaking of the movie—it’s crushing it. In just two days, “A Minecraft Movie” pulled in a whopping $301 million worldwide, more than doubling its production budget. It’s now the second highest-grossing video game adaptation ever, trailing only “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” according to Variety.

With star power from Jack Black and Jason Momoa, the film has clearly succeeded in both entertaining existing fans and attracting new players to the Minecraft universe.

Minecraft Mobile's 2025 Boom

Even before the movie dropped, Minecraft Mobile was already seeing serious gains. The first quarter of 2025 brought in $42.3 million, up 19% from the previous quarter and a solid 34% year-over-year. January alone was huge—raking in $15.1 million, the game’s most profitable month since 2021.

But April might beat that. Just halfway through the month, Minecraft Mobile had already pulled in $9.9 million. If that pace holds, it’s looking like a new all-time monthly record could be on the horizon.

Sure, Minecraft’s Spring to Life update, released March 25th, added some neat features like wildflowers and a better trading system. But let’s be real—that alone didn’t move the needle. The real catalyst here was the movie. The revenue spike aligns perfectly with its release, proving just how influential a big-screen hit can be for game engagement.
