The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster is shaping up to be anything but a modest upgrade.
According to a new drop from leaker @X0X_LEAK, the remastered version of Oblivion will reportedly take up a massive 120GB of storage. That’s an enormous leap from the original 2006 classic, which sat at a cozy 4.6GB. Do the math, and this new version is nearly 26x of its predecessor.
Even the latest Skyrim Anniversary Edition on PS5 only topped out at 31GB. The original Skyrim? Just 4GB. So yeah—this is officially the biggest single-player Elder Scrolls game ever, by file size at least.
So what’s inside all that data?
While we haven’t seen an official reveal (Bethesda and Microsoft say they are dropping new details tomorrow), fans are convinced that this isn’t just a simple texture update. The jump in file size suggests some major overhauls—possibly new assets, revamped audio, modern lighting and effects, and maybe even some additional content.
The remaster is also rumored to be running on Unreal Engine 5, which—while powerful—loves to chew up storage space with high-fidelity assets and cutting-edge features like Nanite and Lumen. So that 120GB might make more sense when we finally get a look at the visuals.
As THE ELDER SCROLLS 4: OBLIVION remaster is now confirmed to be real, and if they decide to shadow drop it, we will get to know the exact file size soon.
