Is OnePlay the Future of Cloud Gaming in India?

OnePlay

Cloud gaming has emerged as an exciting new technology in the last few years, allowing players to stream and play high-end games on any device without needing expensive hardware.

While this concept has taken off in many international markets, cloud gaming is still finding its footing in India.

However, promising ventures like OnePlay are showing that there is potential for cloud gaming to succeed here.

But can it compete with global giants like Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia's GeForce Now?

Streaming Top Titles

OnePlay grants access to recent AAA games like FIFA 24, Alan Wake 2, Palworld, and Baldur's Gate 3.

The catch? You need to own these titles on Steam, Ubisoft, or Epic to play them through OnePlay.

The service streams games at up to 4K resolution.

Impressively, there's minimal lag even for competitive online games like Apex Legends. OnePlay aims to provide seamless access to players' existing libraries.

Attractive Subscription Options

OnePlay offers three tiers: Foundation, Enhanced, and Ultimate.

Foundation plays games in 720p for one hour per day starting at ₹39 monthly.

Enhanced brings 1080p gaming from ₹49.

For unlimited hours, Foundation is ₹599 and Enhanced is ₹699.

Ultimate 4K tier with no time limits runs ₹999 monthly.

That shakes out to around ₹5-6 per hour for avid gamers.

Casual and Hardcore Appeal

OnePlay won't offer fantasy games but aims to serve both casual and hardcore players.

Alongside AAA blockbusters, it plans to add more relaxed, bite-sized experiences over time.

Collaboration for Growth

To improve streaming quality, OnePlay is partnering with telecoms for optimized connectivity.

It may even bundle with mobile plans someday.

Though competitors like Jio Games Cloud exist, OnePlay believes there's plenty of room in India's untapped cloud gaming market.

For now, it claims the largest library of any service in the country.

OnePlay's Potential

Cloud gaming's future remains uncertain in India.

But with top-tier titles, competitive pricing, and strategic partnerships, OnePlay is an early contender.

As its tech improves and its catalog expands, it could become the premier cloud platform for Indian gamers.
