Pocketpair, the Palworld developer, is giving their entire staff a day off specifically so they can play Monster Hunter Wilds on launch day.
Monster Hunter Wilds drops February 28th, and normally most of us would be stuck at work while the early birds get first dibs on the best hunting spots in the Forbidden Lands.
What's super funny is how it all went down – Pocketpair noticed a suspicious trend of employees suddenly reporting they might "feel unwell" on launch day.
Instead of questioning these suspicious timing of these "illnesses," the company decided to embrace the situation with good humor.
According to their official X post, they said: "For some reason, many employees have reported that they may be feeling unwell tomorrow, so tomorrow has been given an extra day off."
Monster Hunter is absolutely massive in Japan, to the point where there's literally a holiday dedicated to Yian Kut-Ku (one of the iconic monsters from the series).
The hype isn't just in Japan though – Monster Hunter Wilds is currently topping the Steam sales charts globally. Western gamers are clearly just as excited for this release.
One retailer in Japan even launched a PS5 rental service specifically for Monster Hunter Wilds' release.
Critics are loving the game so far, with early reviews heaping praise on the latest Monster Hunter entry. Seems like taking a day off might be justified for this one.
I think it's smart business from Pocketpair – they've generated positive headlines while boosting employee morale during the time when copyright hunter Nintendo is after them.
Are you taking sick leave to play Monster Hunter Wilds too? Let me know.
