PC Players Facing Performance Issues in Helldivers 2, CEO Says Fix Coming Soon

Helldivers 2 players on PC have been experiencing worsening performance problems in recent months. The game's developer, Arrowhead Game Studios, has acknowledged these issues and promised to address them soon.

The popular cooperative third-person shooter has been successful since its early 2024 launch, with regular content updates keeping players engaged. However, these same updates appear to be the root cause of the performance decline, especially for those using older PC hardware.

Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani confirmed the situation on the official Helldivers Discord server. "We are 100% aware performance ain't great now. We're tracking closely and have numerous things in motion. We'll be sharing details on what we'll do in the not too distant future," he wrote, as reported by VG247.

Jorjani explained that the performance issues stem from the game's expanding content library. "The more we add in terms of content, the tougher performance becomes. We then have to do a bit of housekeeping," he noted. He expressed hope that future content additions would have less impact on game performance.

The problems coincide with recent developments in the game's Galactic War storyline. Some players have reported significant frame rate drops that make the game nearly unplayable. Even PlayStation 5 users have noticed performance dips during intense on-screen action, suggesting there may be technical limitations to how far the game can push its visual spectacle.

Beyond performance concerns, Jorjani addressed several other player questions. He promised the return of the StA-52 Assault Rifle, a popular weapon from the game's Killzone crossover event, to the in-game Superstore. This follows controversy over the pricing of Killzone-themed items, which led Arrowhead to give away the second phase of these items for free.

When asked about potential frost weapons, Jorjani seemed to downplay the possibility, stating, "Frost? Hmm that's not something I recall being discussed [at Arrowhead]."

The CEO also teased future content for the Democracy Space Station, saying it "has barely scratched its potential."
