A new domain registration hints that Persona 4 Reload, a remake of the beloved 2008 RPG, may be on the horizon. The domain "p4re.jp" was registered on March 20, following a pattern that previously signaled the arrival of Persona 3 Reload.
Social media personality @ScrambledFaz spotted this registration and shared it online, noting how it mirrors what happened before Persona 3 Reload was announced. In 2023, the domain "p3re.jp" appeared just weeks before Atlus officially unveiled that remake.
For Atlus, this move makes a lot of sense. The Persona series has become one of their biggest cash cows, selling millions of copies with a constantly growing fanbase. When Persona 3 Reload launched in February 2024, it quickly became Atlus's fastest-selling game ever, showing just how hungry fans are for modernized versions of these classics.
There have been other breadcrumbs suggesting a Persona 4 remake is in the works. Reliable Atlus leaker Midori mentioned back in April 2024 that such a project was underway, though they cautioned it might be a few years from completion. More recently, in February 2025, Shihoko Hirata (the voice behind Persona 4's iconic soundtrack) posted about working on something mysterious at MIT Studio in Tokyo – a recording location with known Persona connections.
So what might Persona 4 Reload look like? If it follows P3R's example, we're probably looking at a ground-up remake in Unreal Engine 4 with significantly upgraded visuals, refined combat systems, and a refreshed soundtrack while keeping the original story intact.
One big question fans are debating: Will the remake include all the additional content from Persona 4 Golden (the enhanced version that added new characters like Marie), or will that stuff be sold separately as DLC? Some players are worried after seeing how Persona 3 Reload initially left out content from previous enhanced editions.
The timing couldn't be better for an announcement. With Persona 6 rumored to be targeting a 2026 release, a Persona 4 remake would be the perfect appetizer to keep fans satisfied in the meantime.
If Atlus sticks to their previous playbook, we might see an official announcement around June 2025, possibly during a major gaming event like Summer Game Fest or an Xbox showcase.
While nothing's confirmed yet, all signs point to fans getting another chance to solve the mysterious murders in Inaba.
