Rocket League Launches Monthly Cash Cups with Start.gg Through 2025

Rocket League

Rocket League and esports platform Start.gg have teamed up to offer monthly tournaments with real money prizes, running from April through December 2025. These new competitions, called Monthly Cash Cups, will give players around the world chances to win from a total prize pool of $390,000 (approximately £294,514).

The tournaments are open to all players and will take place across seven regions: Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East and North Africa (MENA), North America, Oceania, South America, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Each region will have its own prize money allocation, with amounts varying depending on the region.

What makes these cups interesting is the variety of game modes they'll feature. According to Epic Games, players will compete in different formats throughout the year, including one-versus-one, two-versus-two, and the basketball-inspired Hoops mode. There will even be a three-versus-three Rumble tournament in August.

The competition structure uses a double-elimination bracket system. Teams will be seeded based on their average rank when registration closes. This means players of similar skill levels will initially face each other as they progress through the tournament.

The first Monthly Cash Cup kicks off with a one-versus-one competition beginning on April 22, 2025 (April 21 for the MENA region). Registration for this month's event closed on Friday, April 18.

The full schedule spans nine events:

  • April: 1v1 (April 22-24)

  • May: 2v2 (May 27-29)

  • June: 1v1 (June 20-22)

  • July: 2v2 (July 29-31)

  • August: 3v3 Rumble (August 29-31)

  • September: 2v2 Hoops (September 26-28)

  • October: 3v3 (October 24-26)

  • November: 1v1 (November 28-30)

  • December: 3v3 (December 12-14)

For each event, the MENA region's schedule runs one day earlier than the dates listed for other regions.

Players can participate through Start.gg, but are limited to competing in just one region's Monthly Cash Cup each month. The tournament website provides detailed information about start times and registration deadlines, which vary by region.

The Cash Cups arrive during an already busy 2025 for Rocket League esports. The first Major of the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) was recently held in Birmingham, with French organization Karmine Corp taking the victory.

The second Major is scheduled for June at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. This tournament will feature 16 teams competing for a share of $351,000 (about £265,300) in prize money.
