Star Wars Outlaws will receive a second story update called "A Pirate's Fortune" on May 15, available across all gaming platforms.
Players who own the season pass will receive the update for free, while others have to purchase it separately at $15.
"A Pirate's Fortune" will take players on a new adventure with main characters Kay and Nix as they explore the previously unseen Khepi system. As announced at the Star Wars Celebration event in Japan, players will team up with fan-favorite character Hondo Ohnaka, the legendary pirate who has appeared in multiple Star Wars animated series.
The storyline will pit players against a new adversary named Stinger Tash and her group called the Rokana Raiders. Together, they'll infiltrate the mysterious Khepi Tomb to discover hidden treasures and uncover ancient secrets.
The update introduces a new faction called the Miyuki Trade League, offering fresh rewards for players willing to smuggle dangerous goods across the galaxy. This adds another layer to the game's existing smuggling mechanics that have been part of the core gameplay since launch.
As a bonus, all players will receive special cosmetic items inspired by the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew series. These free items include a new outfit for Nix, a Trophy for the speeder vehicle, and a Trinket that can be attached to both the speeder and the Trailblazer ship. These cosmetics will automatically appear in the delivery crate aboard the Trailblazer after installing the update.
Star Wars Outlaws has had a challenging journey since its initial release last August. Despite selling one million copies, the game fell significantly short of Ubisoft's expectations of five million units. The PC port, released a month after console versions, also struggled to find an audience, peaking at just 3,300 concurrent players according to SteamDB data.
In an effort to boost player numbers, Ubisoft has recently launched a three-hour demo available on all platforms, giving potential buyers a substantial taste of the open-world Star Wars experience. The company has also announced plans to bring the game to Nintendo's upcoming Switch 2 console this September.
This update comes as competition in the Star Wars gaming space continues to heat up. EA has just revealed its new turn-based tactics game, Star Wars: Zero Company, which will appeal to strategy fans looking for a different type of Star Wars gaming experience.
The "A Pirate's Fortune" update represents Ubisoft's continued commitment to expanding and improving Star Wars Outlaws despite its initial commercial challenges.
