A brand-new Star Wars game is set to take the spotlight at this year’s Star Wars Celebration, and it’s looking like a tactical dream come true for fans of the galaxy far, far away. Star Wars: Zero Company, a single-player turn-based strategy game, will receive its world-exclusive first look on April 19 during a special panel featuring Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games.
The reveal will be livestreamed straight from the Galaxy Stage, so fans won’t have to travel to the Outer Rim to see what’s in store.
Who’s Making It?
The game is a joint effort between Respawn Entertainment (best known for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor) and Bit Reactor, a studio founded by former Firaxis Games devs—the very folks behind XCOM and Civilization. So yeah, if tactical combat’s your thing, this is a title to keep a close eye on.
Respawn is overseeing production, while Bit Reactor is leading the development side. When it's ready, Zero Company will drop on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
What We Know So Far
Not much has been officially confirmed aside from the title, platform, and genre. But early leaks from March suggest gameplay reminiscent of XCOM: Enemy Unknown—complete with grid-based tactical battles, strategic movement, and a choice-based action menu.
One leaked image reportedly showed a Mandalorian facing off against a Stormtrooper, with classic turn-based UI elements at the bottom of the screen. That said, these screenshots were from a very early build, so the final product could look pretty different.
EA now revealed characters in Zero Company via concept art on social media. The artwork shows a Jedi, a Mandalorian, and a Clone Trooper, hinting at a diverse roster and possibly a prequel-era setting. Adding to the speculation is the presence of a battle droid hologram—a strong nod to the Clone Wars timeline.
While we don’t yet know how the story will play out or if it’ll feature squad customization or permadeath (à la XCOM), the setup is definitely intriguing.
A Long Time in the Making
Zero Company has been quietly in development since at least 2022, when EA first announced it as part of a three-game Star Wars deal. Of the three, we've already seen Jedi: Survivor launch in 2023. One other title—a Star Wars first-person shooter—was quietly cancelled.
This project, however, is moving full steam ahead. With Bit Reactor’s pedigree in tactical games and Respawn’s proven Star Wars track record, this could be one of the most exciting strategic entries in the franchise yet.
Mark Your Calendars
The full reveal of Star Wars: Zero Company is set for Saturday, April 19, at 8:30 AM PT. Expect gameplay footage, deeper story details, and maybe even a release window.
In related Star Wars gaming news, Star Wars: Hunters is set to shut down in October 2025, while Star Wars Eclipse remains unaffected by recent NetEase restructuring.
Until then, fans of galactic tactics and lightsaber strategy—this one’s for you.
