Starfield, Bethesda's space adventure that has only been available on Xbox and PC until now, might soon be released on PlayStation 5. This possibility emerged after fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda's official Creations website over the weekend.

The logo appeared on a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield. Though the Creation was quickly removed from the website, its brief appearance has sparked widespread speculation among the gaming community. You can see the logo below (Thanks Subreddit):

This development comes at an interesting time for Starfield. The game, which launched in September 2023 as Bethesda's first brand new intellectual property in years, has seen declining player interest in recent months. The release of the "Shattered Space" expansion failed to reignite enthusiasm and received mixed reviews.

Bethesda has remained tight-lipped about specific plans, but earlier this month, the company posted on X saying they have "a lot of exciting things planned" for Starfield this year.

These "exciting things" may well include a PlayStation 5 release. In January, Microsoft's gaming boss Phil Spencer didn't rule out bringing Starfield to PS5. Reports from as early as March 2024 suggested Microsoft was considering PlayStation 5 releases for both Starfield and MachineGames' "Indiana Jones and the Great Circle." The Indiana Jones game has since been confirmed for PS5 with a spring 2025 release window.

A potential PS5 release for Starfield would align with Microsoft's recent multiplatform strategy. Several Xbox games are already available on PlayStation 5, including Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Pentiment. Upcoming titles like Forza Horizon 5, Doom: The Dark Ages, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are also set to release on Sony's console.

Despite originally being promoted as a major Xbox exclusive, Starfield could now become just another multi-platform game from Bethesda. The timing would be significant, as the game approaches its two-year anniversary this September.

Bethesda's Todd Howard has previously confirmed that Starfield will receive at least one more expansion after Shattered Space, though no release date has been announced. The 450-person Bethesda Game Studios currently operates five teams working on Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile games, and external development partnerships.

As Microsoft continues to expand its games to other platforms following its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the gaming landscape continues to evolve, with previously unthinkable crossovers becoming increasingly common.
