Capcom Brings Street Fighter 6 and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess to Nintendo Switch 2

Capcom is hitting the ground running on June 5, 2025, by launching two of its biggest titles—Street Fighter 6 and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess—on the brand-new Nintendo Switch 2. Both games will be available day one, giving early adopters some serious firepower right out of the gate.


Street Fighter 6


Capcom’s flagship fighting game, Street Fighter 6, is coming to Nintendo’s next-gen console with a host of new features tailored for the Switch 2. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just getting started, the game offers multiple control styles, enhanced audio accessibility, and intuitive tutorials that make it easy to dive into the action.


But Switch 2 players are getting even more:


  • Exclusive Joy-Con motion control support via a new Gyro Battle Mode

  • Local Battle Mode for couch multiplayer and spontaneous matchups

  • Tabletop Mode with shared Joy-Cons for instant one-on-one fights

  • Local Wireless Match and Local Avatar Match from World Tour mode


Capcom is also releasing the Street Fighter 6: Year 1–2 Fighters Edition on launch day, available across all platforms including Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, and PC. This edition includes:


  • All characters and stages from the first two years

  • 26 playable fighters

  • 20 stages

  • Bonus outfits and colors


The Street Fighter franchise has sold over 56 million units as of December 31, 2024. It remains a major force in the esports scene through events like the Capcom Pro Tour and Street Fighter League.


Capcom also announced a batch of new amiibo launching alongside the game:


  • Figures for Luke, Jamie, and Kimberly

  • A Starter Pack of amiibo cards featuring all 22 base + Year 1 charactersThese unlock exclusive in-game content and let players save their outfits and control settings.


There’s even a fun new Calorie Contest Mode that tracks your in-game movement with the Joy-Con to build a “Calorie Gauge” — blending fitness and fighting in a lighthearted way.


Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess


Also arriving day one is Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, Capcom’s visually stunning, Japanese folklore-inspired action strategy game. Priced at $39.99, the game puts players in control of Soh, a warrior tasked with defending a divine maiden named Yoshiro from corrupted creatures known as the Seethe.


Gameplay is split into two phases:


  • Daytime: Cleanse villages and prep defenses

  • Nighttime: Defend Yoshiro against incoming waves of enemies


The Nintendo Switch 2 version includes:


  • Enhanced gyro and optional mouse controls

  • A new mode called “Otherworldly Venture”, offering a fresh perspective on the game’s core strategy-action loop(This content will also roll out as a free update on other platforms)


Praised by both Japanese and Western media for its originality and visual direction, Kunitsu-Gami is a unique addition to the Switch 2 launch lineup.


With both Street Fighter 6 and Kunitsu-Gami arriving on Switch 2’s release day, Capcom is showing strong support for Nintendo’s next-gen platform.
