Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 Reveals SpongeBob Collaboration, Bam Margera Returns

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 Reveals SpongeBob Collaboration

The highly anticipated Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 Remaster is grinding its way toward release on July 11, 2025, and fans have plenty to get hyped about—from the surprise return of Bam Margera to an unexpected crossover with none other than SpongeBob SquarePants.

Bikini Bottom, Meet Skater Island

During the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, eagle-eyed viewers caught a wild twist in the trailer: footage of Skater Island (from Pro Skater 3) showed a hidden area connected to Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob’s iconic underwater hometown. The nostalgic crossover has sparked excitement among fans who grew up loving both skateboards and sea sponges in the early 2000s.

While it’s still unclear just how deep the SpongeBob collaboration will go, many are now hoping for fully playable characters like SpongeBob, Patrick, or even Squidward—a first for the franchise that has previously featured the likes of Darth Maul, Wolverine, and Shrek.

Bam’s Back—Thanks to Tony Himself

One of the biggest early concerns from longtime fans was the apparent absence of Bam Margera, a staple of the Tony Hawk games from Pro Skater 3 through Proving Ground. That changed in dramatic fashion.

According to The Nine Club podcast (via VGC), Bam’s addition came at the eleventh hour, after Tony Hawk personally called Activision to push for his inclusion.

"Tony called up Activision and was like, ‘Hey, we’re putting Bam in the thing,’" co-host Roger Bagley recalled. When there was hesitation, Hawk reportedly replied, “No, you’re gonna do it,” leading to Margera being flown in for a full-body scan.

This move was further confirmed by a recently shared image showing Hawk and Margera reuniting at Tony’s skatepark—a feel-good moment that long-time fans didn’t know they needed.

Career Mode Questions Still Linger

While the remaster aims to faithfully update both Pro Skater 3 and 4, there’s one design decision that’s still raising eyebrows: career mode.

The original Pro Skater 4 ditched the classic two-minute runs in favor of a more open-world, objective-based approach. Some fans are now worried that reverting to timed sessions across both titles could flatten what made THPS4 feel distinct. Activision has yet to clarify how the mode will be handled, so the jury’s still out.

Deluxe Editions, Multiplayer, and Launch Plans

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 Remaster will support cross-platform online multiplayer and release on a wide array of systems:

  • Nintendo Switch 2

  • PS5 / PS4

  • Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One

  • PC (via Steam, Battle.net, and Windows Store)

Players who opt for the Digital Deluxe or Collector’s Editions will get early access starting July 8. The game will also launch day one on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, making it easily accessible for subscribers.
