Twitch star and Valorant personality Kyedae Shymko has announced that she’s stepping away from streaming for the foreseeable future.

The decision, which she revealed at the end of a recent broadcast, marks a significant shift for the popular creator, who’s been a staple in the Valorant community for several years.

“I probably won’t be back to streaming for a while,” Kyedae told fans during the stream, adding that any future appearances would likely be spontaneous. She later followed up with a more in-depth explanation via Twitter, giving viewers a clearer picture of what led to her decision.

“Streaming Was Never the Dream”

In her statement, Kyedae opened up about how streaming, while rewarding, was never her ultimate goal. She cited a combination of health issues, shifting priorities, and a desire to compete in Valorant Game Changers as the main reasons for stepping back.

Fans will remember that Kyedae publicly shared her cancer diagnosis in 2023, a deeply personal moment that earned her widespread support across the gaming world. Since then, she has undergone chemotherapy and continued to stream sporadically, even as her health challenges remained a private battle behind the scenes.

This break, she explained, isn’t a spur-of-the-moment choice—it’s something she’s been considering for years.

A Pivot Toward Competition

While this may feel like a goodbye from full-time streaming, Kyedae made it clear she isn’t stepping away from gaming altogether. Instead, her sights are now set on competing in Game Changers, Riot’s official Valorant tournament circuit for women and marginalized genders.

Though she hasn’t confirmed which team she’ll be joining, fans are already buzzing about a potential return to the competitive scene. In 2023, Kyedae briefly played under Disguised’s all-female roster, teaming up with QuarterJade, Sydeon, and Tenzin for Game Changers.

A Familiar Shift in Streaming Culture

Kyedae’s move echoes a growing trend among high-profile creators who are re-evaluating their relationship with constant content creation. Jacksepticeye, for instance, has taken extended breaks from YouTube to focus on his mental health, and Pokimane has been vocal about pursuing interests beyond Twitch and adopting a looser streaming cadence.

While fans will certainly miss Kyedae's regular streams, many have expressed understanding and support for her choice to focus on health and competitive gaming.
