Wuthering Waves is going full cyberpunk. During its April 19 livestream, Kuro Games officially revealed a surprise crossover event with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the hit Netflix anime from the world of Cyberpunk 2077. The collab is scheduled to go live sometime in 2026, and while details are still under wraps, the hype is already off the charts.
The announcement dropped at the tail end of the stream, which mostly focused on content for the upcoming Version 2.3 update, launching April 29. But Kuro couldn’t resist throwing fans a curveball at the end — and naturally, the internet lit up.
What Can We Expect from the Collab?
While the devs are keeping things hush-hush for now, fans are already speculating hard. The Edgerunners anime has a small but memorable cast, so there’s already buzz around David, Lucy, and Maine possibly showing up as guest characters or Echoes. Given Wuthering Waves’ combat style and character system, seeing these legends in action would be a wild (and fitting) crossover.
In case you missed it, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners debuted on Netflix in 2022, developed by Studio Trigger in collaboration with CD Projekt Red. It’s a prequel to Cyberpunk 2077, taking place a year before the game and quickly becoming a fan-favorite for its emotional storytelling and chaotic Night City energy.
Big Win for Wuthering Waves
This marks Wuthering Waves’ first-ever crossover, and it’s a big one. Since its launch on May 22, 2024, the free-to-play action RPG has built serious momentum across Android, iOS, Windows, and more recently, PlayStation 5 (January 2025). The game is also about to launch on Steam on April 29, lining up with the Version 2.3 update — so new players on PC will be jumping in just in time.
That 2.3 update, titled "Fiery Arpeggio of Summer Reunion," brings in fresh content, including new characters Zani and Ciaccona.
Wuthering Waves in the Spotlight
From its early days, Wuthering Waves has impressed with its snappy combat, fluid traversal, and generous gacha system. It drew over 30 million pre-registrations pre-launch and hasn’t slowed down since. The game’s critical reception has also been strong — earning "Best Mobile Game" nominations at major events like The Game Awards, DICE Awards, and New York Game Awards.
Set in the hauntingly beautiful post-apocalyptic world of Solaris-3, the game follows a mysterious protagonist named Rover, who journeys alongside Resonators to uncover lost memories and face off against an event known as the Lament. It’s all wrapped in fast-paced, character-swapping combat and collectible powers called Echoes — a perfect playground for a stylish crossover like Edgerunners.
Cyberpunk’s Crossovers Continue
CD Projekt Red isn’t new to collabs. The Cyberpunk franchise has already appeared in games like Fortnite and Guilty Gear Strive, and this latest team-up with Kuro Games shows they’re still all-in on expanding the Edgerunners legacy.
